Beth – Looking at the world close up has always been a passion. When I saw these onions, I fell in love with their roots and their texture against the deep purple of the onion skin. I knew I had to photograph them close up to show this beauty. The garlic scapes captured my imagination with their tangle of green stems. I wanted to highlight their curves and intensity of color, creating almost a nest of green against this beautiful napkin. I decided to keep the lighting dramatic to help highlight the contrast in colors.
