What roots people? The one thing every person shares is the need for sustenance. Across the world people will break bread in large groups to perhaps celebrate a new birth. Sometimes in small clusters as a family after baseball practice. Romantically across a small table just two people dine together to celebrate an anniversary. And occasionally alone – while watching a great movie. They do this to celebrate the end of a harvest season, to mourn a passed friend, to welcome new neighbors. Through this communal need of sustenance we come together as people.
This blog is about three women, three different expertise, and three approaches to food. All three work together in the advertising industry in NYC. Working on worldwide campaigns for various food companies, food magazines, and television commercials. These three women are using one thing they have in common – their love of seasonal, locally grown food to bring them back to their roots both figuratively and literally. This collaboration is Our Seasonal Table.
There is always a relationship with food regardless if it’s just a quick bite or a four course tasting menu. The way it looks, the craving you have for something satisfying. Maybe it’s your mom’s mac and chesse, maybe it’s an acclaimed chefs duck confit, maybe it’s a micro waved potato. This bowl of steaming chowder, or plate full of noodles is enjoyed first by your eyes – the first bite is always with your eyes. The way it lays on a platter, in a deep dish, rolled in paper. You want it to look appealing the color of the food and ingredients and how they play off of each other within the dish. The bright tomatoes that are surrounded by chunks of fresh mozzarella and dusted with flakes of parsley, or the perfectly fried piece of fish placed a top a summer salsa. This is how these three women see food – every detail matters.
Using locally grown and sustainable ingredients our photo shoots will happen during the season it is representing. We will use nature’s real bounty in the NYC area to produce these images. Showing our audience and our selves that locally grown means not only healthier but also beautiful and full of amazing flavors. While also telling a story of how a photo shoot happens with the collaboration of prop styling, food styling, and photography.
Welcome to Our Seasonal Table.
