Beth – Every summer we spend a week in Amagansett hiding in the woods, riding our bikes to the bay beach and shopping for produce from the farm stands. Once a week there is a small farmers market at Ashawagh Hall in the Springs. One of my favorite stands is run by a young surfer looking guy with a deep tan who sells his own grown vegetables. He raises them all on a plot of land behind a friend’s house. His offerings are always unique from the other farm stands and that’s why I find myself going back. Beautiful string beans in shades of yellows, purples and greens, bunches of red veined sorrel and these amazingly large red okras. I bought them and carefully carried them back to my studio to be photographed after our vacation.
